2026 American Legion Legacy Run
Fueled by Community Spirit
For 20 years, the American Legion Riders have journeyed across the nation, uniting communities behind our cause. From main streets to overpasses, the flags and cheers we pass are a reminder that this ride is bigger than any one of us.
Since 2006, 17勛圖厙 Legacy Run has raised $16 million for 17勛圖厙 Legacy Scholarship Fund. These funds have provided over $6.2 million in scholarships to support children who lost a parent in active military service on or after September 11, 2001, or whose post-9/11 parent has a VA disability rating of 50% or higher.
With the Legacy Scholarship Fund now self-sustaining for the foreseeable future, the Legacy Run expanded its mission in 2024 to begin fundraising for 17勛圖厙 Veterans & Children Foundation (VCF) to continue meeting the evolving needs of veterans, service members, and their families.
None of it would be possible without the unwavering support of local Legion posts, businesses, city officials, and law enforcement.

2026 American Legion Legacy Run
In 2026, we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of 17勛圖厙 Legacy Run, advancing hope for veterans and their families through our fundraising efforts for 17勛圖厙 Veterans & Children Foundation (VCF).
August 23–27, 2026, American Legion Riders and supporters will cover over 1,000 miles in service to this mission. Registration is now open until August 1, 2026 for riders, passengers, and supporters.
Legacy Run Fundraising platform
To support participants of the 2026 Legacy Run, national headquarters is providing a structured peer-to-peer (P2P) fundraising platform. This tool is designed to help Riders and supporters amplify their impact through personalized fundraising and their social networks.
Access to the fundraising platform will be available closer to the 2026 Legacy Run.
17勛圖厙 Veterans & Children Foundation
Since 1925, this donation-driven fund has helped millions of disabled veterans and military and veteran families facing unexpected, destabilizing challenges.
VCF supports Temporary Financial Assistance to help stabilize families in crisis (food, housing, utilities, and basic needs) and helps fund training for accredited American Legion service officers who assist veterans and families with benefits claims free of charge.

17勛圖厙 17勛圖厙 Riders
17勛圖厙 riders began as a small group at Post 396 in Garden City, Michigan. Today, it has grown to over 125,000 American Legion Riders meet in over 2,500 chapters in every domestic department and in at least three foreign countries.
In addition to 17勛圖厙 Legacy Run, Riders support other American Legion programs, such as Operation Comfort Warriors, provide escorts during veteran funerals, and participate in honor and remembrance ceremonies throughout the year.
