Tampa visitor bureau highlights Legion Family Meeting the Moment.
On May 7, Visit Tampa Bay held its annual National Tourism Week luncheon, at which it recognized the efforts of local hospitality associates and successes of events held around the Florida city over the past year. One of those events was the 106th American Legion National Convention in late August 2025, and it was honored as part of the bureaus impact recognition program.
According to the Visit Tampa Bay website, highlights meetings and conventions that go beyond traditional event planning to incorporate sustainable practices, social responsibility and community engagement into their efforts. The convention was recognized in the Community Engagement category; in addition to the nearly 7,600 attendees bringing more than $20.8 million in economic impact to the city, some participated in the yearly convention community-service project, helping restore the 102-year-old USS Tampa Post 5 Cemetery.
American Legion Department of Florida Commander Jessica Moore attended the luncheon and accepted the award.
